Ping Liu Wins 1st PGT Title in PGT Sprint Event #3: $5,100 No-Limit Hold'em

The inaugural PGT Sprint series continued on Friday, November 3 with Event #3: $5,100 No-Limit Hold'em at the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The 64-entrant field created a prize pool of $320,000 that paid the final ten players. Ping Liu claimed the title and the $89,600 first-place prize when he defeated Sergio Aido in heads-up play. Liu has now moved to 324th place on the PGT leaderboard with 113 PGT points and has picked up his second PGT cash of 2023 and his first-ever PGT win.

Shannon Shorr was eliminated on the money bubble when he was forced all in from the big blind and fell to Aido. From there, the eliminations quickly followed as there were several short stacks as the big stacks feasted during the money bubble. Jeremy Becker was next to go in tenth place when he got his final two chips in, and Sung Joo Hyun was eliminated in ninth on the river after he was forced all in from the big blind.

Eight players converged on a single table and Samuel Laskowitz was quickly ousted in eighth when he ran pocket sevens into pocket tens. Ryan Riess was then knocked out in seventh place when he got his short stack in and failed to improve to Aido. Brandon Cantu was eliminated in sixth place when he called with ace-ten in the big blind and was up against Aido's three-deuce, but a three hit the flop and Cantu was gone.

Dylan DeStefano finished third in Event #2 and made another deep run before he was eliminated in fifth place when he got king-queen in against Liu's ace-jack but failed to make the best hand. Nick Schulman was the next to go in fourth place when he got his short stack in with ace-eight and ran into Aido's kings. Aido and Liu then exchanged the chip lead multiple times during three-handed play before Aram Zobian was eliminated in third place. Zobian got sixes in against Liu's jack-ten, but a jack hit the river and he made his exit.

Liu held more than 70% of the chips when heads-up play began, but Aido swiftly doubled into the lead. Aido continued to increase his lead before Liu had a river decision for the rest of his chips, and Liu decided to call with two pair to regain the chip lead. Shortly after, Aido got the rest of his chips in with ace-six against queen-ten. Aido stayed ahead on the flop and turn, but Liu improved to two pair on the river and Aido was eliminated as runner-up, while Liu was crowned the champion of PGT Sprint Event #3: $5,100 No-Limit Hold'em.
