John Hennigan Wins PGT Sprint Finale Following ICM Chop with Shannon Shorr and Nick Schulman

The inaugural PGT Sprint series has concluded at the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, with a three-way ICM chop between John Hennigan, Shannon Shorr, and Nick Schulman signifying the end to another successful PGT series. 

The only $10,000 buy-in tournament of the four-event series attracted a total of 35 players, which created a prize pool of $350,000 that paid the final five players. Following a nearly dead-even ICM deal between the last three players, John Hennigan claims his first win since he won his sixth WSOP bracelet in 2019. Hennigan climbs to 87th on the PGT leaderboard with 504 PGT points from his 12 cashes in 2023. The official runner-up to Hennigan, Shannon Shorr, moves into 303rd on the PGT leaderboard with 129 PGT points. The official third-place finisher was the biggest benefactor of the ICM deal as Nick Schulman rose to 28th on the PGT leaderboard with 1,105 PGT points from his two wins and 16 cashes. Schulman is now in contention to finish inside the Top 40 at season's end to ensure he has a seat in the PGT Championship $1,000,000 freeroll.

Once play was down to the final eight players, it would be Hennigan holding the chip lead at the final table as David Coleman would be eliminated in eighth place when his ace-nine couldn't outdraw Shorr's pocket eights. Ryan Riess would be the next to fall when his queen-jack couldn't improve against the king-seven of John Andress before Sung Joo Hyun would be eliminated on the money bubble when Andress' pocket queens cracked his pocket aces. 

Sam Soverel was eliminated in fifth place for $24,500 when he ran his ace-nine into Shorr's ace-ten, while Andress exited in fourth place for $38,500 when his pocket fours could not outdraw the pocket kings of Schulman. After the final three players battled for a few levels and the chips grew to be fairly even, a deal was proposed and agreed on with Hennigan claiming the honor of the PGT title to go along with the lion's share of the prize pool.
