Ethan Yau Wins 2022 Poker Masters Event #2 for $197,600

Ethan "Rampage" Yau is a Poker Masters champion, winning Event #2: $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em at the 2022 edition of the series. The popular poker vlogger topped a field of 76 entries at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas to win the $197,600 first-place prize.

In heads-up play, Yao defeated Alex Foxen, with Foxen picking up $144,400 in prize money. On the final hand, Yau's pocket eights held up against Foxen's ace-king to get Yau the victory.

Yau's Road To Winning Event #2

Ethan Yau finished Day 1 with 2,150,000 in chips. That had him second on the leaderboard with six players remaining.

On Day 2, Yau got the eliminations started by busting Masashi Oya in sixth place when his ace-king held against' Oya's ace-queen. Dylan DeStefano busted next to Stephen Song, and then Yau took out Michael Brinkenhoff in fourth place. When he knocked out Brinkenhoff, Yau's ace-five beat Brinkenhoff's pocket kings thanks to an ace hitting the flop.

Yau then eliminated Song in third place, besting Song's pocket eights with queen-five of clubs. That got the tournament down to heads-up play, with Yau holding a big lead over Alex Foxen to start.

At the start of heads-up play, Yau had 8,800,000 to Foxen's 700,000. Foxen fought his way off the canvas and back up to around 3,000,000, but ultimately Yau proved too tough to overcome on this day.

On the final hand, Yau and Foxen got the money all in with Yau's pocket eights up against Foxen's ace-king. The board ran out clean for Yau to eliminate Foxen in second place.

Ausmus Maintains Series Lead

Jeremy Ausmus remains on top of the 2022 Poker Masters leaderboard through two events. After winning the first event of the series, Ausmus finished in seventh place in Event #2 to add to his series point total.

Ethan Yau's victory in Event #2 has him in second place, and then it's Nick Schulman in third and Alex Foxen in fourth. Schulman and Foxen are the two runner-ups from Event #1 and Event #2, respectively.

Foxen Up To Third on PGT Leaderboard

Alex Foxen earned enough PGT points to move into third place on the 2022 PGT leaderboard. Foxen now trails only Stephen Chidwick and Phil Ivey. Prior to his second-place finish in Event #2, Foxen was in fifth place. The move up allowed him to jump ahead of Michael Duek and Jason Koon.
