The 2018 Poker Masters is officially underway. Over the next week, the world’s best will compete across seven High Roller events for the title of Poker Masters champion. The Poker Masters Purple Jacket awaits and “Today at the Poker Masters” will take you through the highest stakes week of the year with daily updates from the PokerGO Studio.

If a lot has changed since the last time Daniel Negreanu was inside the PokerGO Studio, even more has changed since the 2017 Poker Masters. After a white-hot stretch, which included a Super High Roller Bowl win and a Big One for One Drop victory to close the World Series of Poker, Justin Bonomo took over the top spot on poker’s all-time money list. After a year of hard work, Negreanu retook his spot among poker’s elite.

After the inaugural Poker Masters, Negreanu tweeted, “I’m not embarrassed to say I don’t think I’m as good as these guys. They are unreal. In order to improve you have to humble yourself & learn.”

Over the last year, Negreanu has improved and big results have followed. He took silver at the Super High Roller Bowl and also cashed in five of eight U.S. Poker Open events. Poker Masters remains the only High Roller Triple Crown series “Kid Poker” has yet to conquer and that could begin to change today.

Negreanu enters the Event 2 final table already besting his overall results from the 2017 Poker Masters, where he failed to notch an official final table finish. If Negreanu is able to open his 2018 account with a solid result, he will be a formidable Purple Jacket contender heading towards next week’s bigger buy-in events.

Formidable contenders surround Negreanu, including Brandon Adams. Fresh off an Event 1 cash, Adams returns to PokerGO for a chance to take the overall Poker Masters lead. A podium finish will move Adams above Event 1 winner David Peters.

The rest of the Event 2 lineup has plenty of Triple Crown experience, save for Jared Jaffee. The WPT champion and WSOP bracelet winner made his first ARIA High Roller appearance this summer. This marks Jaffee’s first Poker Masters cash and a podium finish could vault him into Super High Roller Bowl seat contention via the High Roller of the Year leaderboard.

Watch Negreanu, Jaffee, and the rest of the Event 2 final table go for Poker Masters glory exclusively on PokerGO.
