Mike Watson Leads PokerGO Cup Event #2 Final Table

The second event of the 2024 PokerGO Cup would be the series's first $10,000 buy-in tournament, and it attracted 89 entrants. After more than 12 hours of play, just six players remain, with Mike Watson emerging as the end-of-day chip leader.

Watson finished with 2,630,000 in chips and sits ahead of Anthony Hu (2,505,000) and Byron Kaverman (2,405,000). Sitting fourth overall is PGT Kickoff winner Dylan Weisman with 1,930,000, while  PGT Championship winner Daniel Smiljkovic sits with 1,635,000 in chips. Rounding out the final table is current PGT leaderboard front-runner David Coleman, with 425,000 in chips. The final six players have all locked up $44,500 in prize money, but all eyes are on the $240,300 first-place prize, 240 PGT points, and the PGT Gold Cup awaiting the Event #2 champion.

Event #2: $10,100 No-Limit Hold'em would see the 89-entrant field create a prize pool of $890,000 that paid the final 13 spots. Following the elimination of Stephen Chidwick on the money bubble after he lost a race against Weisman, a flurry of eliminations occurred, which included Jim Collopy (13th), Dylan Linde (10th), and Alex Foxen (8th). The final seven players redrew to the final table with Hu holding the chip lead, and although he found one double through Smiljkovic, Morten Klein would be the unfortunate last elimination of the evening when he was outdrawn by Watson on the turn.

This is Watson's 11th cash on the PGT, and he'll be looking for his first PGT victory if he can parlay the chip lead into a win on the PokerGO livestreamed final table that begins airing at 1 p.m. ET on PokerGO.com. For Weisman, a win would put him into second overall on the PGT leaderboard, while Coleman is looking to extend his lead on top, where he currently has amassed 590 PGT points following his four consecutive cashes during PGT Kickoff that also included two victories.
