Justin Bonomo Leads 2023 U.S. Poker Open Event #10 Final Table; 5 Players in Contention for Golden Eagle Trophy

The final event of the 2023 U.S. Poker Open took center stage at the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, and only six players remain in the marquee tournament of the series, Event #10: $50,000 No-Limit Hold'em.

Justin Bonomo holds the overnight lead with 2,192,000 in chips. He sits ahead of Martin Zamani, Jeremy Ausmus, Nick Petrangelo, Chris Brewer, and Dan Smith who will all return on Tuesday at 2 p.m. PT to play out Event #10 on the PokerGO live stream that will air at 3 p.m. PT.

The 37-entrant field created a prize pool of $1,850,000 and the top six players would finish in the money. Jonathan Little, Phil Hellmuth, and Daniel Negreanu all made their exit near the end of the day before Bonomo scored a huge double knockout that rocketed him up the leaderboard en route to the overnight chip lead. Bonomo picked up aces against Sean Winter's kings and Isaac Haxton's queens, and the board ran out clean, giving Bonomo a massive stack of over 200 big blinds while both opponents were eliminated.

Nick Schulman was the next to go when he ran king-queen into Smith's ace-king before eight players converged on a single table. Seth Davies exited shortly after when he got ace-king in against Zamani's queens and failed to improve. Andrew Lichtenberger was a clear short stack at this point and he soon got his chips in with king-queen but ran into Ausmus' aces. The board ran out to give Ausmus quads, and Lichtenberger was eliminated on the money bubble. The six remaining players bagged and tagged, and on account of the fast-paced eliminations at the end of the day, the average stack will be over 100 big blinds when play resumes on the streamed final table.

The final six players have all locked up $92,500 in prize money, but all eyes remain on the grand prize of $666,000 in prize money, 400 PGT points, and the mini Golden Eagle trophy.

The U.S. Poker Open series champion who will take home the Golden Eagle trophy and $50,000 championship bonus will also be determined by the conclusion of the final table. Ren Lin currently sits atop the leaderboard with 465 points, although four different players have an opportunity to snatch the title. Dan Smith (353 points), Chris Brewer (305 points), Martin Zamani (170 points), and Jeremy Ausmus (150 points) are all still in contention to overtake Lin and claim the title of series champion depending on the finishing order.

Smith and Brewer could each lock up the series title with a victory in the final event. Those two could also win the Golden Eagle with a runner-up finish to anyone except each other. Zamani and Ausmus need to win the final event, and they would need the runner-up finisher to not be Smith or Brewer. There are many possibilities with five players having a shot at the prestigious title heading into the final day, and the 2023 U.S. Poker Open champion will soon come into focus as the final table plays out on the PokerGO stream.
