Daniel Negreanu Leads U.S. Poker Open Event #5 Final Table

The 2024 U.S. Poker Open continued at the PokerGO Studio from ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada with Event #5: $10,100 No-Limit Hold'em.

Daniel Negreanu bagged the chip lead and holds over 24% of the chips in play as seven players remain. Erik Seidel, David Peters, Victoria Livschitz, Grant Wang, Matthew Wantman, and Paulius Plausinaitis round out the players who will return for the final day as play resumes at 12 p.m. PT on Saturday, April 13 with the delayed final table stream beginning at 2 p.m. PT on PokerGO.

The 92-entrant field created a prize pool of $920,000 and the top 14 finishers earned a piece of it. Adekunle Olonoh was the unfortunate bubble boy when he was left short-stacked after getting rivered and then got his remaining chips in with ace-six suited and ran into pocket jacks. Among those to cash were Rodger Johnson (14th), Jeremy Ausmus (13th), Nick Schulman (12th), Justin Zaki (11th), Justin Saliba (10th), and Dan Shak (9th). Johnson picked up his fifth consecutive cash this series through five events.

Later in the night, Bill Klein got his seven big blinds in with ace-seven against Negreanu's king-jack. The river gave Negreanu a straight, and Klein was eliminated in eighth place as seven players converged on a single table. The final table exchanged chips around as Wantman and Seidel doubled through Plausinaitis and Negreanu took the chip lead through the end of Level 16, when the seven remaining players bagged to return for the streamed final table.

Event #2 winner Jesse Lonis currently sits atop the U.S. Poker Open leaderboard in the race to be crowned the U.S. Poker Open champion and receive the Golden Eagle Trophy and a $25,000 PGT Passport. Event #1 winner Erik Seidel currently sits seventh and will have a chance to overtake the top spot. Livschitz picked up her fourth cash of the series, while Wantman grabbed his second, and Negreanu, Peters, Wang, and Plausinaitis each notched their first.

Each player has locked up $36,800 but all eyes will be on the $239,200 first-place prize, 239 PGT points, and Event #5 mini Golden Eagle trophy.
