Daniel Geeng Is the PGT PLO Series II Champion

The 2023 PGT PLO Series II belonged to Daniel Geeng. Geeng had a breakout series that included one victory, four cashes, and more than $850,000 in cashes, all of which allowed him to finish atop the PGT PLO Series II leaderboard. Along with becoming the series champion, Geeng earned a $25,000 championship bonus. Altogether, Geeng scooped $876,160 in prize money from the 2023 PGT PLO Series II.

When the series began, Geeng was very much the new kid on the block, but the 34-year-old poker player out of Hanover, New Hampshire, proved his worth over the course of the nine PGT-qualifying events. Geeng's run to series champion began in Event #2: $7,600 PLO Bounty when he took 11th for $22,350. He followed that performance up with another cash in Event #3: $10,000 PLO, taking 14th for $20,600. In Event #4: $15,100 PLO Progressive Bounty, Geeng maneuvered his way to heads-up play where he ultimately lost out to Adam Hendrix. Still, Geeng scored $172,710 plus $148,000 in bounty prizes from that event.

Geeng was within striking distance of the PGT PLO Series II leaderboard prize entering the final qualifying event. Heading into Day 2 of that event, Event #9: $25,200 PLO Championship, Geeng needed to reach heads-up play to give himself a shot. Geeng dominated the final table, reached heads-up play, and won the whole thing for $487,500, leaving no doubt that he was the 2023 PGT PLO Series II champion.

Daniel Geeng came into the PGT PLO Series II without much of a live tournament résumé. He had just five prior cashes, according to TheHendonMob.com, but all of them did come in pot-limit Omaha. He specializes in pot-limit Omaha cash games, but the past week and a half would be all about Geeng's success on the tournament felt. Much like we saw when Lautaro Guerra was crowned the first PGT PLO Series champion, Geeng's success at the PGT PLO Series II serve as a bit of a breakout performance.
