Scott Abrams Leads Ben Lamb Heads Up in PGT Mixed Games Event #6: $10,300 Dealer's Choice

PGT Mixed Games Event #6: $10,300 Dealer's Choice brought out 56 entries, and at the end of Day 1, only Ben Lamb and Scott Abrams remained. Abrams holds a small lead on Lamb with 4,760,000 to Lamb's 4,640,000.

The event marks Lambs second cash of the series, neither of which he has claimed yet, as he remains heads up with Maxx Coleman in Event #4: $10,300 Big Bet Mix as well. As it stands, Lamb is currently guaranteed at least $138,000 in Event #4 as well as 138 PGT points, and at least $117,600 and 118 PGT points for this event. Any combination of finishes would put Lamb at least in third place on the leaderboard, while winning both would put him on top. 

Event #6 was a who's who of mixed games, drawing out 56 entries and creating a prize pool of $560,000. Of the 56, eight made it into the money. Among those who played but failed to reach the money in this event were Mike Matusow, Eli Elezra, Adam Friedman, David 'ODB' Baker, and Shaun Deeb to name a few. Philip Sternheimer was the last player to walk away without a payday though, as he finished on the stone bubble. In his final hand, Sternheimer moved all in with his short stack in limit hold'em. Dan Zack raised to isolate and when everyone else folded, Zack's fives held against Sternheimer's king-ten to secure the rest of the field at least $22,400. 

Once the money buble burst Johannes Becker dropped in 8th place to bring the field down to a final table. From there, eliminations came quickly, starting with Bryce Yockey in 7th place. Yockey fell to Daniel Negreanu in a hand of 2-7 No-Limit Single Draw. Negreanu stood pat on the draw while Yockey took one, but was already drawing dead to Negreanu's eight-seven low. Abrams would claim the next four eliminations from there starting with Dan Zack in sixth place. 

John Monnette and Nick Schulman were next to go. They were eliminated in the same hand, both dropping to Scott Abrams in Stud Hi-Lo Eight or Better. All three players made two pair in the hand, but Abrams came out with the best of it, as well as the only low with aces up and an eight low to send two players packing. With more chips, Schulman took home the higher finish, but with his 5th-place finish, Monnette retook the top spot on the PGT Mixed Games leaderboard, over Nick Guagenti. 

Daniel Negreanu's elimination in third would end play for the night. Negreanu busted in a hand of Limit 2-7 Triple Draw when he drew two, two, and stood pat to Scott Abrams three, one, and pat. Abrams showed Negreanu an eight-seven low and that would be it for "Kid Poker" who collected $78,400 for his run. 

Abrams and Lamb called it quits for the day after Negreanu's elimination and bagged and tagged for the night. Abrams and Lamb are each currently guaranteed at least $117,600 but will battle for the top prize of $179,200 as well as 179 PGT points which will be used to determine the PGT Mixed Games champion. The PGT Mixed Games champion will receive the PGT Trophy and a $25,000 championship bonus. PGT points will also be used for the year-long leaderboard which will qualify players to the end-of-year PGT Championship $1,000,000 freeroll.

When play resumes the button is on Scott Abrams and action will start with 12:21 left in Level 16 with blinds of 15,000/30,000 with a 30,000 big blind ante in the Big Bet games, and blinds of 30,000/60,000 and limits of 60,000/120,000 with an ante of 15,000 in the limit games.
