Philip Sternheimer Wins Event #7: $10,200 Dealers Choice for First PGT Title and $164,500

Philip Sternheimer entered the final table of Event #7: $10,200 Dealers Choice third in chips, and never having won a PGT Title. However, he had the opportunity to change that over the next few hours, and did so after defeating Daniel Negreanu heads-up to take his first title and the $164,500 in prize money. Sternheimer will also collect 165 PGT Points to add to his 2024 PGT Mixed Games leaderboard total, where he now sits in the top ten at number eight with 184 points.

Sternheimer now tops over $2.4 million in total live tournament earnings after today's win, according to The Hendon Mob, amassing a total of $2,407,443 for a career that dates back more than a decade. Originally born in France, Sternheimer now calls England home and sits at number 54 on the United Kingdom All-Time Money List.  

The seventh event of the series attracted 47 entrants and created a prize pool of $470,000. The final seven players finished in the money, including Jerry Wong and Max Hoffman, who were also the final two players in Event #6. Following Hoffman's sixth-place finish, he now moves into the top spot on the PGT Mixed Games leaderboard.  

Sternheimer started the day around one big bet short of Adam Friedman, who was second overall in chips to the chip leader, Daniel Negreanu. Maxx Coleman and Phil Hellmuth rounded out the final five. 

Hellmuth was the shortest stack to start the final table and was eliminated on the first hand of play, when in the Stud round, Hellmuth's two-pair fell to the higher two-pair of Maxx Coleman. 

Sternheimer then took over the chip lead at the end of Level 17 when he took a large pot from Adam Friedman in Stud, getting Friedman to pay off a river bet to reveal a king-high straight. 

Maxx Coleman was the next to fall in fourth place when his pair of sixes failed to improve against the pair of aces of Negreanu in Omaha Hi-Lo. Coleman collected $49,350 and 49 PGT Points. 

Adam Friedman was left short in the previously mentioned clash with Sternheimer and then would bow out in third place a short time later when he ran his ace-queen into Sternheimer's ace-king in Pot-Limit Hold'em. Friedman took home $68,150 and 68 PGT Points for the showing. 

Sternheimer started heads-up play with around a two-to-one chip lead over Negreanu, but would lose it momentarily after having his aces cracked by Negreanu's two-pair in an early Pot-Limit Hold'em hand. However, the lead change would be short-lived as at the start of Level 19, Negreanu folded the river after driving the betting in another sizeable Pot-Limit Hold'em hand. 

Sternheimer would put an end to the tournament a few hands later in Stud Hi-Lo when Negreanu three-bet all-in on fifth street and would need to improve his pair of sevens and ninety-eight low to catch up to the higher pair and better low of Sternheimer. However, Negreanu failed to improve on seventh street and headed to the payout desk to collect $103,400 and 103 PGT Points.

With this victory, Sternheimer cracks the top ten and now sits at number eight on the PGT Mixed Games leaderboard with 184 points. He sits close to Daniel Negreanu (196), Dan Zack (195), and Adam Friedman (192), but still has his work cut out for him to catch up to Mori Eskandani (202), Jerry Wong (231), John Hennigan (256) and current leader, Max Hoffman with 263 points.
