Nate Silver Leads 2023 U.S. Poker Open Event #2 Final Table

The 2023 U.S. Poker Open continued from the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Event #2: $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em tied a record that was broken just one day prior. Both the first two events of the series attracted 105 entrants to create the biggest $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em field in PGT history.

The 105-entrant field created a prize pool of $1,050,000 and the top 15 players would finish in the money. As the bubble neared, Steve Zolotow exited when his aces were cracked by eight-five offsuit and Eric Baldwin was ousted when he failed to improve upon his draws. Ultimately, it would be Chino Rheem eliminated on the money bubble by Adam Hendrix, whose pocket queens held against ace-jack.

Sam Soverel (15th), Justin Zaki (14th), Matthew McEwan (13th), Daniel Colpoys (12th), Adam Hendrix (11th), Joao Simao (10th), and Sean Winter (9th) were all eliminated prior to reaching the final table of eight. Winter finally fell after nursing a short stack for a while, and Brock Wilson would be eliminated in eighth place when his ace-ten couldn't win a flip against sevens.

"The Year of Nacho" continues as Argentinian Nacho Barbero has made the final table for a second straight day. Ren Lin, Aram Zobian, Matthew McEwan, and Joao Simao all cashed in both of the first two events as well.

FiveThirtyEight founder Nate Silver holds the chip lead heading into the final day of play with 3,505,000 in chips. Trailing Silver is Aram Zobian, Ren Lin, Erik Seidel, Nacho Barbero, Steven Veneziano, and Robert Chorlian who will all return on Saturday, March 25, at 12 p.m. PT to play out Event #2 on the PokerGO-live stream that will air at 1 p.m. PT.

When play resumes, the button will be on Erik Seidel. There is 13:16 remaining in Level 17 with blinds at 30,000 / 60,000 and a 60,000-big blind ante.

The final seven players have all locked up $52,500 in prize money, but all eyes remain on the grand prize of $231,000 in prize money, 231 PGT points, and the mini Golden Eagle trophy which will soar them up the U.S. Poker Open leaderboard.
