Isaac Haxton Now Second On PGT Leaderboard After SHRB Win

Isaac Haxton is now second on the 2023 PGT leaderboard after winning Super High Roller Bowl VIII for $2,760,000. Haxton now has 2,297 points and trails Daniel Weinman by only three points entering PGT Mixed Games II.

Winning SHRB VIII was Haxton's second Super High Roller Bowl title. He won his first back in 2018 in Super High Roller Bowl V. Haxton's jump into second place on the PGT leaderboard came after he came into the event in third place with 1,747 points. The SHRB win gave Haxton 550 points and allowed him to leapfrog Chris Brewer, who was unceremoniously eliminated on the money bubble of SHRB VIII.

Stephen Chidwick also cashed in Super High Roller Bowl VIII, placing third for $960,000. That finish gave Chidwick an additional 288 PGT leaderboard points and he is now in fourth place on the PGT leaderboard. The move continues Chidwick's hot start to the second half of the PGT season. He came into Poker Masters in 34th place on the leaderboard and his Poker Masters success pushed him up into sixth place. He then cashed in SHRB and moved into fourth place. Chidwick is the reigning PGT Player of the Year (the player to finish the season with the most PGT leaderboard points).

Moving up into 31st place on the PGT leaderboard thanks to a second-place result at Super High Roller Bowl VIII was Andrew Lichtenberger. Lichtenberger was outside the top 40 prior to the finish, and his addition to the top 40 knocked Justin Bonomo out of the top 40. Being inside the top 40 is important because it's the top 40 players on the PGT leaderboard that qualify for the season-ending PGT Championship $1,000,000 freeroll.

PGT Championship Qualification & Player of the Year Bonus

Finishing the 2023 PGT season ranked in the top 40 of the PGT leaderboard automatically qualifies a player for the season-ending PGT Championship. The PGT Championship is a $1,000,000 freeroll event held at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas in January 2024. The winner will take home $500,000, and there will be additional payouts for the final table. The more points a player earns, the more starting chips they'll begin the PGT Championship with.

The player who finishes the 2023 PGT season with the most leaderboard points will be named PGT Player of the Year and be awarded a $50,000 bonus.

What's Next for the PGT?

Up next for the 2023 PGT season is PGT Mixed Games II, running October 5-14 at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas. The PGT Mixed Games II series leaderboard winner will earn a $25,000 championship bonus. That series is followed by the first-ever Super High Roller Bowl PLO and PGT PLO Series II. The PGT PLO Series II series leaderboard winner will also earn a $25,000 championship bonus.
