If you tuned into PokerGO and ESPN’s coverage of Day 2A/B of the World Series of Poker Main Event at the start of the day, you’ll likely notice that the current feature tables have a much different feel than they did when the broadcast began at 11 AM PT. Defending champion Qui Nguyen and Phil Laak were eliminated, with Doug Polk, Sam Grafton and their table taking over after the last break.

To start Level 9, the outer table that housed Brandon Adams earlier today, has been replaced with a star-studded lineup of poker professionals and former NBA player Bobby Sura.

Sura was drafted in the first-round of the 1995 NBA Draft, after having a storied career at Florida State University. Sura is FSU’s all-time leading scorer and enjoying a career in the NBA, with the Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, Detroit Pistons and Houston Rockets.

For the ten-year NBA veteran, poker replaced the competitive nature he had become accustomed to in college and the NBA.

“I got into poker soon after I retired,” Sura said before taking his seat at the PokerGO feature table. “The competitive part is very interesting to me, it definitely keeps the juices flowing.”

Sura also mentioned that he’s been working on his game and getting better, which should help against a tough lineup. Sura has former Main Event champion Jonathan Duhamel and bracelet winner Jeremy Ausmus on his direct right but Sura is looking forward to the opportunity to play against some of the best in the world.

Watch Sura, Duhamel and Ausmus live on ESPN, until the Main Event broadcast returns to PokerGO later tonight.
