The first-ever PGT PLO Series kicked off with a bang on Saturday, March 11, at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas. The opening event of the nine-tournament series set records for the number of unique entries and total entries in an owned-and-operated PGT event.

Event #1: $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha drew a field of 200 total entries, including 140 unique players. That generated a prize pool of $1,000,000, with $160,000 sitting on top for the eventual winner to take home. With that prize pool, Event #1 of the PGT PLO Series became the largest prize pool for an owned-and-operated PGT event with a buy-in of $10,000 and under.

Notables such as PGT leaderboard frontrunner Cary Katz, Daniel Negreanu, Phil Galfond, Josh Arieh, David Williams, Ethan "Rampage" Yau, Joni Jouhkimainen, Dylan Weisman, Cherish Andrews, and Tommy Le were among the competitors in the field for the opening event of the series.

Live tournament updates can be found in the live reporting section of PGT.com, where followers can see hand histories, chip counts, payouts, and more. The record-breaking opening event is a two-day tournament that will play down to a winner on Day 2 on Sunday, March 12.

The nine events as part of the PGT PLO Series are all pot-limit Omaha variants with buy-ins ranging from $2,200 to $26,000. Players competing in the series' $5,000 and higher buy-in will earn points based on the amount they cash for. The player to finish with the most points atop the series leaderboard will be crowned PGT PLO Series champion and take home a $25,000 championship bonus.

Now in its third season, the PokerGO Tour continues to prove its staying power. Earlier in the 2023 PGT season, the first-ever PGT Mixed Games series took place. That series was dedicated entirely to mixed games and saw a record-setting field in Event #1: $10,300 H.O.R.S.E. that attracted 70 unique players. At the time, it was a record number of unique players in an owned-and-operated PGT event.

At the end of the 2023 PGT season, the top 40 players as ranked by the PGT leaderboard will be eligible to compete in the season-ending PGT Championship. Those 40 players will be joined by a select group of PGT Dream Seat winners to compete in the $1,000,000 freeroll event with a $500,000 first-place prize.
