The 2023 PGT PLO Series II continued at the PokerGO Studio from ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada with Event #4: $15,100 Pot-Limit Omaha Progressive Bounty.
Daniel Geeng bagged the chip lead and holds 41% of the chips in play as only six players remain. Christian Heich holds half of Geeng's stack and will return second in the counts, while Adam Hendrix, Daniel Negreanu, Joni Jouhkimainen, and Richard Gryko round out the players who will return for the final day as play resumes at 12 p.m. PT on Monday, October 23 with the delayed final table stream beginning at 2 p.m. PT on PokerGO.
This was the first PGT running of a progressive bounty tournament in the PokerGO Studio. In this format, when you eliminate another player, you receive half of their bounty as a cash prize, while the other half goes towards increasing your own bounty.
The 101-entrant field created a total prize pool of $1,515,000. $606,000 of it went to the bounty prize pool, while $909,000 went to the regular prize pool of which the top 15 finishers earned a piece. Arthur Morris was the unfortunate bubble boy when he got his chips in with aces against Sam Soverel. Soverel rivered a straight and Morris made his exit. Among those to cash were Eelis Parssinen (14th), Michael Duek (13th), Maxx Coleman (10th), and Allan Le (8th).
When seven players remained, they converged on a single table where the average stack was 90 big blinds. Sam Soverel was the clear short stack, and although he scored one double, he was soon at risk again. He got his chips in ahead against Geeng, but Geeng flopped a set and Soverel was eliminated, while the six remaining players bagged to return for the streamed final table.
Parssinen has cashed in all four events thus far and is just behind Event #3 winner Stephen Hubbard on the PGT PLO Series II leaderboard in the race for the $25,000 championship bonus and PGT Gold Cup. Gryko has now cashed for a third time, made back-to-back final tables, and will overtake the top spot on the leaderboard with a win or runner-up finish in this event. Geeng also secured his third cash, while Heich, Hendrix, Negreanu, and Jouhkimainen all notched their first cash of the series.
Each player has locked up $54,540 in addition to their collected bounties but all eyes will be on the $172,710 first-place prize, 200 PGT points, and Event #4 trophy.
