Drew Amato has been covering the World Series of Poker since 2014. This year he’s covered the U.S. Poker Open and Super High Roller Bowl for Poker Central. Daily during the Main Event, Amato will share his favorite images from the World Series of Poker. Enjoy this recurring piece as, in his own words, Amato describes the biggest moments in the game.

A total of 7,874 players started a $10,000 journey to poker immortality and a $8.8 million first prize just 10 days ago, but right now there are only nine remaining! Watch how the night unfolded as those that are left are guaranteed a million-dollar payday while the following three days will decide who will collect the top prize and the most coveted bracelet in the game!

Returning from dinner the play continued at a pretty frantic pace. Martijn Gerrits was one of the first eliminated when he ran his queens into the aces of Alex Lynskey. Gerrits would hit the rail in 15th place, falling just short of the dream, but taking home $475,000.

There may only be one personality in poker big enough to overshadow the Main Event on Day 7. History was not only made in the Amazon room tonight, but also in Brasilia as Phil Hellmuth captured his record 15th WSOP Bracelet. Hellmuth wasted little time in making his way over to the main stage to show off the new hardware to Ali Nejad & Nick Schulman.

It amazes me that no matter how deep into this tournament we get, and how high the stakes may be, Michael Dyer is as cool as can be. Dyer has less than $100,000 in lifetime earnings, yet with millions on the line has kept the composure of a seasoned pro. During the last hand of play, a crazy three-way all-in, Dyer casually walked over to a cocktail server, picked up a coffee and a glass of water, and walked back over to see what was up. I couldn't help but laugh as I shot this photo.

While 9 players have completed their mission to the WSOP Main Event final table, Yueqi Zhu is left wondering "what if" after a crazy three way all in. Zhu found himself on the bad end of a cooler alongside Antoine Labat, as the two both held pocket kings. Nicolas Manion was the third player in the hand and quickly tabled aces, with Zhu being the shortest of the three stacks. The board would run out clean and Zhu is eliminated in 10th place taking home $850,025. Manion shoots up to 112,000,000 to take the overall chip lead heading into Day 8, while Labat drops to 9th place with just 8,000,000.
