Stephen Chidwick Leads U.S. Poker Open Event #7 Final Table

The 2024 U.S. Poker Open continued at the PokerGO Studio from ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada with the penultimate tournament of the series, Event #7: $15,100 No-Limit Hold'em.

Stephen Chidwick bagged the chip lead and holds over 33% of the chips in play as six players remain. Joey Weissman, Eric Afriat, Sam Laskowitz, Bill Klein, and Sean Winter round out the players who will return for the final day as play resumes at 12 p.m. PT on Tuesday, April 16 with the delayed final table stream beginning at 2 p.m. PT on PokerGO.

The 64-entrant field created a prize pool of $960,000 and the top 10 finishers earned a piece of it. Clemen Deng was the unfortunate bubble boy when he got his stack of over 30 big blinds in with pocket tens against Weissman's ace-king. A king spiked the river and Deng was eliminated. Soon after, David Peters ran ace-deuce suited into Chidwick's sixes and was eliminated in 10th place, while Victoria Livschitz got her short stack in with sixes, and when Klein's ace-queen found an ace on the flop, Livschitz was eliminated in ninth place, picking up her fifth cash in seven events.

Brock Wilson got his chips in with sixes but ran into Laskowitz's eights. The board provided no help and Wilson was eliminated in eighth place as seven players converged on a single table. The final table played only a few hands before Darren Elias moved in his short stack with ace-nine and was against Weissman's jacks. Elias couldn't improve and was eliminated in seventh place, while the six remaining players bagged to return for the streamed final table.

Event #6 winner Aram Zobian currently sits atop the U.S. Poker Open leaderboard in the race to be crowned the U.S. Poker Open champion and receive the Golden Eagle Trophy and a $25,000 PGT Passport. Zobian will have the lead heading into the final event of the series but others can close the gap. Laskowitz and Klein picked up their fourth cash of the series, while Weissman and Chidwick grabbed their third, and Afriat and Winter notched their second.

Each player has locked up $52,800 but all eyes will be on the $288,000 first-place prize, 288 PGT points, and Event #7 mini Golden Eagle trophy.
