The 2019 U.S. Poker Open is officially underway. From February 13-23, the world’s best will compete across ten high stakes events for the USPO Championship. The USPO trophy, $100,000, and the first High Roller Triple Crown title of 2019 is up for grabs and each day, “Today at the Open” will recap the action and prepare fans for PokerGO‘s final table streams.

The first weekend of the 2019 U.S. Poker Open has lived up to the hype. Event numbers and prize pools have increased from a year ago, players are flocking to the PokerGO Studio for a chance to win the $100,000 USPO Championship prize, and High Roller Triple Crown history seems to get rewritten every single day. Meanwhile, Stephen Chidwick has regained his spot atop the USPO leaderboard.

Sean Winter seems the most likely challenger. Today, Winter becomes the first player in High Roller Triple Crown history to make four-straight final tables. Winter opened the series with three cashes, before bagging for Sunday’s $10,000 Short Deck final table stream. The slight separation at the top of the USPO Championship standings is thanks to Chidwick’s Event #1 victory over Winter.

Since Winter and Chidwick are fighting for USPO Championship points on a daily basis, it’s hard to make a single final table battle feel more important than the last. Point multipliers are there for that, but as the U.S. Poker Open marches closer to the midway point of this 10-event war, Chidwick does seem to control his own destiny.

As long as Chidwick isn’t the first player eliminated today, he will likely enter Event #5 as the overall USPO Championship points leader. While it is impossible to predict his assumed advantage, it also seems impossible that Chidwick would fail to add to his total over the next week. We will give the winningest player in USPO history that courtesy.

Stephen Chidwick has already written his way into the history books, can Sean Winter do the same? Find out, today at the Open. Subscribe to PokerGO now to watch the 2019 USPO live.
