The U.S. Poker Open has just wrapped up and Stephen Chidwick fell just short of a title defense, placing third overall behind Sean Winter and David Peters. For a long time though, Chidwick was in the lead for quite some time with his sights set on the $100,000 top prize and the Championship trophy in large part due to his win in Event #1.

Looking back on Event #1 of the 2019 U.S. Poker Open, Chidwick defeated a field of 90 entries to capture the first prize of $216,000 after battling through a final table that included Joseph Cheong, Sean Winter, and Laz Hernandez. The latter was involved in a massive pot that propelled Chidwick to the win and in the video above you can hear from the leader of the U.K. all-time money list what his reasoning during this hand was.

In the end, Chidwick made four final tables at the 2019 U.S. Poker Open, winning two events and cashing for a total of $705,950. Watch the highlights of Event #1 of the U.S. Poker Open on PokerGO right here, and Chidwick’s second win in the Pot Limit Omaha event right here.
