Shyngis Satubayen Leads WPT Amsterdam, Andreas Klatt on Fire

Day 2 of the World Poker Tour Amsterdam Main Event gained 26 additional players before cards hit the air, pushing the number of entrants to 224 overall. Nearly 100 players advanced from Day 1 flights and after ten level of action the field is down to 32 remaining players as Shyngis Satubayen bagged up the chip lead.

Four players crossed the 500,000-chip mark, including Andreas Klatt with 504,000. Klatt has all but wrapped up the MonteDam Swing points race should he cash when four more players bust with the money bubble at 28 players.

Klatt won the PokerStars National Championship in Monte Carlo and then finished runner-up in the Monte Carlo Main Event. He’s previously unknown on the international circuit but his breakout week landed him in the top 20 spots for the 2016 GPI Player of the Year race.

Louis Salter, Jack’s brother, finished near the top of the leader board with Noeh Boeken and Claire Renault moving on with average stacks. Day 1A chip leader Sebastian Ruiz, Fabrice Soulier and Paul Newey return as some of the shortest remaining stacks.

The total prize pool came in $697,327, with the min-cash at $4,823 and the final two tables all lock up five-figures. A spot at the TV final table earns at least $27,822 and the winner earns $166,344 plus a WPT Champions package valued at $15,000.

Klatt, Soulier, Salter, Omar Lakhdari and Arezki Belaidi are the remaining players that also cashed in one of the qualifying Monte Carlo events and receive a €1,000 bonus for making the money. Currently, Paul Gresel leads the race but after four eliminations on Friday he’ll lose that lead.

Cards hit the air at 2 pm local time and they’ll play down to the final six players with the final table scheduled for Saturday.
