Last week’s Morning Perk was basically all about movies and to make sure that we cover topics other than Hollywood cinema this week, we are getting the newest movie news out of the way before Friday.

To quote Agent Smith, “Why, Mr. Anderson? Why? Why do you persist?”

Why does Hollywood do this? Why does Hollywood need to reboot successful movies less than 20 years after they were originally released? The clear answer, money. Lord knows there would be plenty of it to go around if The Matrix trilogy was remade and according to reports, that is exactly what Warner Bros. is planning on doing.

The studio is in the early stages of developing a relaunch of The Matrix, which is arguably the most iconic sci-fi movie ever made and widely considered one of the most original films in history. Warner Bros. sees a potential model similar to what Disney and Lucasfilm have done with Star Wars, reports say, exploring hidden corners of the Matrix universe with character stories.

So, why does Hollywood persist? To quote Neo, “Because I choose to.”

Yes, yes, yes!

Reboots, no. Sequels to Guardians of the Galaxy, yes. Everything about the first film, now referred to as Vol. 1, was amazing. The action, soundtrack, special effects and humor were all praised and pushed the film to gross nearly $775 million worldwide. While I am sure the action, soundtrack and special effects of Vol. 2 will be exceptional again, the humor is clearly already there.

If you don’t think I’m saying, “These odds are terrible. We need new odds.” the next time I am all-in and behind at the poker table, you are crazy. If you don’t think Baby Groot is my new favorite movie character, you are even more crazy.

Guardians, not Gardens, of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be the most anticipated movie of this summer and I can’t wait until the next trailer drops.
