The goal with the Run it Back with Remko videos is to get a better sense of what goes on in the minds of some of the greatest players in the world, of which this video is the perfect example. During the 2019 U.S. Poker Open, Rainer Kempe and I rewatched one of the greatest hands of his Super High Roller Bowl win in 2016 and he was kind enough to analyze this fold versus Fedor Holz.

Despite losing the hands discussed in the video, we can confidently say that this hand was important for Kempe on his way to winning this event for $5,000,000. Kempe showed discipline against one of his toughest opponents who’s are capable of just about anything in every spot.

Since winning the Super High Roller Bowl, Kempe has slowly and steadily grown his profile as one of the top players in the world. To date, Kempe has cashed for an additional $14 million since winning the Super High Roller Bowl, putting him 22nd on the game’s all-time money list and second in Germany to only Fedor Holz.
