Through the first half of the Poker Masters series, two players have won battles, but the outcome of the war is still to be decided. That is because the Poker Masters Purple Jacket doesn’t go to the player that started the fastest or was the most successful through the first few events of the series. The Poker Masters Purple Jacket goes to the winningest player throughout the series, meaning that the war won’t be over until the $100,000 Championship concludes next week.

Nick Schulman and Steffen Sontheimer have done their part to at least be on the front lines when that battle takes place though. The two opened the five-event high stakes series with victories, with Sontheimer making both final tables, finishing 4th in Event #1 and winning Event #2, to push his Poker Masters earnings over $1.1 million.

Schulman was unable to navigate his way to the Event #2 final table, but his $918,000 result for his opening $50,000 event victory is enough to comfortable sit in 2nd. American businessman Matt Hyman sits 3rd thanks to his Event #1 runner-up finish, while German High Roller Fedor Holz comes in off the podium. 2017 Super High Roller Bowl bronze medalist Stefan Schillhabel rounds out the top-five.

On the outside of the Poker Masters Championship Standings top-five but looking in, are Tom Marchese ($300,000), Adrian Mateos ($277,000), Phil Hellmuth ($200,000), Dominik Nitsche ($178,500), and Koray Aldemir ($153,000).

While there is some big money up for grabs at today’s Event #3 final table, Bryn Kenney is the only remaining player that has already opened his Poker Masters account. Kenney earned $125,000 for his 7th place finish in Event #2, meaning that he will be moving into the top-ten regardless of his finish today.

With $960,000 set aside for the Event #3 winner and $576,000 for today’s runner-up, the Poker Masters Championship Standings will have a completely different look later tonight. Who will move into the top-five remains to be seen, but you can watch the Event #3 final table starting at 3:30 PM ET. Doug Polk, Dan Smith, Jake Schindler, Erik Seidel, and more will battle for a share of a $2.4 million prize pool, exclusively on PokerGO.
