Day 2C of the 2018 World Series of Poker Main Event placed the field one day away from being together as one. The massive restart of 3,480 players reduced to 1,655 by the end of the day with many eliminations taking place on PokerGO.

Past Main Event champion Phil Hellmuth joined the feature table and fired the action up on his way toward a Day 3 appearance. Relive all the Day 2C action here:

Hellmuth found himself in hot water early in the day but climbed out of the hole near the end of the night. Near the end of Level 9, Hellmuth faced pressure but called correctly to send his chip stack in the right direction for Day 3.

The 14-time bracelet winner starts Day 3 play with 162,700 chips and a chance to cash in the Main Event for the first time since 2015.

Hellmuth made it through but there were quite a few who were not as fortunate. Adrian Mateos, Joseph Cheong, Dominik Nitsche, David Williams, and Mark Newhouse all have to wait until 2019 to rebuild their Main Event hopes.

On the other end of the spectrum, Phil Ivey (434,200) ended the day 11th among players who moved on from Day 1C. Ivey is joined by Chino Rheem (390,800). Patrik Antonius (296,600), Cliff Josephy (285,400), and Steffen Sontheimer (246,600) in the Day 3 battlefield.
