Monday morning. Your alarm goes off for the first time in two days, you head back to the office and then spend the first few hours of the workday planning how you’ll survive until closing time on Friday. Luckily, Poker Central and Death Wish Coffee have you covered. The world’s strongest coffee gives you a “Morning Perk,” recapping the weekend sports action on Monday and then the best from across the internet on Friday.

While poker live streams stole the Monday morning headlines, the weekend provided an endless stream, pun intended, of action. From the hardwood, to the green, to the ball park, there were upsets, comebacks and moments that kept us on the edge of our seats and jumping from channel to channel trying to keep up.

The most exciting series of this year’s NBA Playoffs is going to Game 7 because John Wall has ice water running through his veins. The Washington Wizards point guard drained a three-pointer in Avery Bradley’s eye on Friday night to take a one-point lead with 3 seconds to go in the Wizards’ must-win game against the Boston Celtics. The Wizards held on to win and if John Wall can carry the momentum of that shot into tonight’s decisive Game 7 match-up, the Wizards should be heading to the Eastern Conference Finals.

John Wall is still young at 26 but he is no Si Woo Kim. The 21-year-old won THE PLAYERS Championship this past weekend, outlasting a tough field and an even tougher TPC Sawgrass course to win golf’s fifth major. Kim, who is the youngest to ever win THE PLAYERS, is also the youngest player on the PGA TOUR, meaning the South Korean will likely be a force to be reckoned with for years to come.

A young and untested player winning THE PLAYERS could be considered an upset but there was no upset in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. The Golden State Warriors erased a 25-point deficit, the third largest in playoff history, and with Kawhi Leonard potentially out but not at 100% for Game 2, the Warriors could have just stolen the only game San Antonio had a chance to win in this series.

The New York Yankees dominated Major League Baseball for the better part of my childhood and one of the main reasons was The Captain, Number 2, Derek Jeter. The Yankee legend was immortalized yesterday, with his jersey retirement and enshrinement in Monument Park headlining a less than stellar evening for the 2017 New York Yankees. Result and jersey retirement hot takes aside; Derek Jeter is a legend and will always be my second favorite Yankee. Shout to Paul O’Neil.

The rest of the weekend was packed with baseball action and the rest of the summer should be – SQUIRREL! I like animals running around baseball stadium clips more than I like baseball. Kidding but not really.
