Friday morning. It’s been a long week but you are almost there. Just a few more calls, one more meeting and then the weekend and freedom awaits. We know you need a little extra boost to get you through the final day of the workweek and luckily, Poker Central and Death Wish Coffee have you covered. The world’s strongest coffee gives you a “Morning Perk,” bringing you the best of the internet from the past week.

“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

The internet wasn’t around when Ferris Bueller gave everyone the perfect high school yearbook quote but his words are just as powerful today as they were in the late 80’s. The internet, more often than not, moves faster than life itself and while we’re sure we missed some of it, these were our favorites from the past week.

Breaking from our usual “Morning Perk” tradition, we’re featuring a movie trailer that is not a few months away but debuting in theatres this weekend. That movie, Alien: Covenant, which hits the silver screen tonight and if we weren’t Tiger Jam-ing, we’d probably be there. Alien: Covenant is the second installment to the Alien prequel series and sixth overall Alien film. It looks scary, it looks cool, it looks like the aliens have a lot of ways to kill us and it looks like Danny McBride should probably stick to playing washed up baseball players.

From a movie that is in theaters to a movie that is probably a year away but will stay on my radar each and every week until it is released. The Beach Bum, which is set to star Matthew McConaughey as a “rebellious stoner named Moondog, who lives his life by his own rules”, is a sequel to Harmony Korine’s Spring Breakers, which stared James Franco. The McConaughey news makes me slightly interested but I’m more interested in who is replacing Hudgens, Gomez, Benson and Korine.

From a movie that should be out by 2018 to a fight that might happen in 2018 or never at all. Conor McGregor announced this week that he has signed his half of the contract to fight Floyd Mayweather and the sports world is still waiting on Money Mayweather to get to his half of the document. The mega-fight would likely make McGregor and Mayweather lots and lots of money but after rumors have swirled about a potential fight for the better part of a year, it is hard to imagine this all being more than just some social media banter.

From a fight that could never happen to an ice age that almost didn’t happen? That’s right, researchers are now saying that the asteroid that allegedly wiped out the dinosaurs and wreaked apocalyptic havoc on Earth, struck Earth in a “very unfortunate place.” I’d likely describe a nine-mile long asteroid hitting earth anywhere as “unfortunate” but after drilling into the 20-mile deep impact crater in the Gulf of Mexico, scientists believe that the asteroid making impact a few moments earlier or later could have shifted the timeline of life as we know it. The dinosaurs never would have died, we would have never existed and you would have never had the pleasure of reading our “Morning Perks.”

Another thing we never would have gotten if that asteroid didn’t hit Earth just right, the internet! The internet remains undefeated and after Bradley Beal’s playoff flop turned into a hilarious “Shooting Star” meme, Isaiah Thomas followed him down the internet’s black hole. Thomas tried to stop LeBron James from dunking during Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, which, by the way, is impossible for anyone especially a 5 foot nothing point guard, and instead was tossed back down to earth and then shooting across the universe.
