Maria Lampropulos not only won the largest cash of her career on Sunday by taking down the partypokerLIVE Millions Main Event but also rewrote the record books with her historic $1.255 million score. The large score places her in the conversation for the greatest win by a female; in fact, only five women earned larger payouts prior to Lampropulos’ big win.

Lampropulos registered her first cash less than three years ago and already had two runner-up finishes worth $103,907 and $75,067. In the larger of the two, her boyfriend Ivan Luca took first place in a 2016 Eureka Main Event.

She jumped from 24th to fifth place on Argentina’s all-time money list; where Luca is in first place. Lampropulos also climbed to 15th place in the women’s all-time money list – ahead of Mimi Tran, Barbara Enright and Cyndy Violette.

A look into past results reveals that woman have won $1 million or more just ten times. Falling just outside seven-figures were Vicky Coren’s 2006 ETP London win for $941,513 and Vanessa Selbst’s 2014 WSOP $25,000 Mixed Max title for $871,148.

Annette Obrestad’s win at the 2007 WSOP Europe could be argued the value was inflated due to the exchange rates in 2007 and Annie Duke’s Tournament of Champions win came in an invitational event, leaving Selbst, Live Boeree and Lucille Cailly above Lampropulos for debate’s sake.

Cailly’s score came in a runner-up finish, leaving Lampropulos’ win in the conversation as the best female tournament moments of all time. Selbst’s two huge wins came in fields of 764 and 161 entrants respectively while Boeree’s field of 1,240 entrants exactly matched Lampropulos’ field.

Regardless of opinions, Lampropulos joined elite company in poker’s history and her results suggest this won’t be the last time she hoists a trophy.
