The Playground Poker Winter Festival has been running at the Playground Poker Club in Montreal for the better part of the last two weeks but the biggest event of that series will begin on Friday, February 10th with the first flight of the partypoker.net WPT Playground Main Event. The Playground always plays host to some of the bigger WPT events on the schedule but many players make the trip because Montreal has so much more to offer than just poker.

Montreal’s club and bar scene is world famous and while the hundreds of players heading there this weekend will hope to go deep in the partypoker.net WPT Playground Main Event, we imagine all will make time to hit some of MTL’s best nightlife destinations.

Big in Japan Bar

One of Montreal’s hippest bars is also one of Montreal’s best kept secrets. With no signage to catch your eye while walking down the street, Big in Japan Bar is easily missed but once you find the unmarked grey door, you’ll be in the middle of a Japanese-style speakeasy. With more whiskey options than you’ll likely know what to do with and an energetic vibe that continues late into the night, Big in Japan Bar is worth the effort to find.

Muzique Nightclub

While Montreal might have dozens of nightclub options, Muzique Nightclub has redefined exclusivity and has become the go-to destination for those looking to experience Montreal’s high-end party scene. With world renowned DJs on set every weekend, Montreal’s biggest weekly party every Friday and a “Beat The Clock” promotion every Saturday, it’s no surprise that Muzique is the hottest nightclub in the city.

Stereo Nightclub

Located in the heart of downtown Montreal, Stereo Nightclub has been a top nightlife destination for nearly 20 years. Stereo might not have the popular appeal of other nightclubs in the city but for those looking for “pure dance floor ecstasy” and “real underground music”, look no further than Stereo.

3643 St-Laurent Apt. 200

If the club scene isn’t exactly what you are looking for, 364 St-Laurent Apt. 200 is basically the Gold Spike of the North. It’s loft party meets old school arcade, with games and activities, such as ping pong and pool, as well as a quiet area to lounge out with friends.

Club Entourage

One of my best friends went to McGill University and when I was 19, an illegal drinking age in the United States, a group of friends had the ingenious idea of going to Montreal to visit him for New Year’s Eve. We were there in Canada for three nights and all three were spent at Club Entourage. Because I want to protect the innocent, I can’t tell you much more than that but Entourage will always be my go-to MTL spot.
