The final day of the 25,750 High Roller at the PokerStars Championship Monte Carlo returned 27 players that were all in the money to play for the $1 million plus first-place prize. Players busted in a five-hour fury to get to the final table. In the end Julian Stuer bested John Juanda in a lengthy heads-up match for $1.115 million and the title.

Stuer nearly doubled his lifetime earnings with the win. He has to two previous six-figure cashes – runner-up in 2016’s EPT Prague High Roller and eighth in the EPT Barcelona Super High Roller. Stuer has cashes stretching back to 2010 and high buy-in events start popping up in his results in 2015.

Stuer eliminated every player when the table reached the final six players. “That’s the most insane run I’ve ever had,” Stuer said to the PokerStarsblog following his win. “I always had the nuts. Always the nuts, it was super easy.”

Juanda crossed the $20 million in career earnings mark with his runner-up finish with his total at $20,153,373. He’s finished first or second in an incredible 64 times over his long career.

Brian Rast still holds the 10th spot on the all-time money list with $20.3 million, then Sam Trickett, Phil Hellmuth, Fedor Holz, Scott Seiver and Phil Ivey are bunched together with Ivey topping out at $23 million.

Then it’s steep climb to catch Antonio Esfandiari ($27.3 million), Dan Colman ($28.1 million), Erik Seidel ($32.1 million) and Daniel Negreanu ($33.1 million).

The PSCMC stop wrapped up and heads to Sochi next May 20 – 31, which has grown in popularity in the last two years as a viable tournament stop.
