The summer is quickly approaching and over the next week, Poker Central’s finest minds are putting their heads together to predict and preview the poker world’s busiest stretch of action. Talking everything Super High Roller Bowl and World Series of Poker are editorial members Remko Rinkema, Paul Oresteen and Will O’Connor, along with contributions from Sam Simmons, Brent Hanks and Carly O’Loughlin.

If you could back any player during the entire WSOP, who would it be and why?

Remko: Time has shown that backing players is usually a head-scratching, stomach-churning experience, so I’d rather spend my money on some nice dinner, some casual degeneracy and lighting some of my own money on fire. However, if I had to invest in someone, I’d look for a young, eager and focused player that has the dedication, motivation and mental strength to compete at the highest level for the grueling summer camp that is the World Series of Poker.

Will: Thanks for answering the question Remko! No pushes here but there is a spoiler alert. In a few days, you’ll learn that I picked Daniel Colman as the player I’d want to back in the Super High Roller Bowl and I’m sticking with Colman for the entirety of the summer. He may not play many mixed game events but Colman is arguably the best No Limit Hold’em player on the planet and the last I checked, there were a lot of No Limit Hold’em events at the WSOP.

Paul: I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if I had to give my money to any player it would be Daniel Negreanu. I firmly believe he is the best all-around player on the planet.

Sam: Since he is my Player of the Year pick, it has to be David Peters.

Brent: Daniel Negreanu because he has a massive edge in nearly every event he plays and he is due!

Will anyone win multiple WSOP bracelets?

Remko: Mike Leah will win two WSOP bracelets this year, something he has been close to many times before. Leah is a beast in all the games and with his mindset and ultimately, there is nobody that will keep him from climbing up those bracelet rankings and he will eventually put himself in the record books as one of the greatest to ever play the game.

Will: It feels as though someone usually does and because I believe in momentum, it is going to be a player that picks up their first early in the summer. Justin Bonomo is my POY pick and One Drop winner, so he is an easy choice here. The only question, can Bonomo or anyone else win three bracelets this summer?

Paul: Yes, and I see two or three players winning multiple bracelets this year. There are some very talented, driven player on hot streaks that have it all coming together at once.

Sam: More of the same this summer, Jason Mercier.

Brent: Even though he has yet to break through, this is the year for Stephen Chidwick. (Pictured above.)

Carly: Fedor, even though he is retired. He has Elliot Roe on his side which is pretty cool but may he shouldn’t listen to any Primed Mind at the table so he doesn’t fall asleep.

Who will cash for the most this summer?

Remko: This one is all about hitting the big scores and with the Super High Roller Bowl, High Roller for One Drop and the Main Event, there are a few different ways to rip off the biggest cash amount in one score. Because of his versatility, I’m going with Bryn Kenney, pictured above, who can win those mentioned events and even the $50,000 Poker Players Championship.

Will: This is getting repetitive! Justin Bonomo is going to win One Drop, a few bracelets and Player of the Year. Justin Bonomo is going to win the most monies this summer, aside from the Main Event champion, whoever luck boxes that is going to walk away with over $8,000,000.

Paul: Phil Hellmuth extends his cashing record this summer with no less than five cashes. They’ll most likely be in small field, high buy-in events and with a larger percentage of the field making the money, Hellmuth could rack up ten or more cashes.

Sam: Once more, David Peters.

Brent: Whoever wins the Main Event.
