Doyle Brunson Debating WSOP Return

There are legends of the game and then there are legends of the game. Doyle Brunson is the latter and while he has played sparingly at the World Series of Poker over the last few years, the Godfather of Poker may be making a return this summer.

Brunson tweeted about his possible return earlier Tuesday and Daniel Negreanu made sure to get that news out to all $25K Fantasy Draft players. Rightfully so, as Brunson has won WSOP bracelets in nearly every variant of poker.

Brunson claimed his first of ten WSOP bracelets in 1976, winning a $5,000 NL 2-7 Draw Lowball event for $90,000. He followed that win with back-to-back World Series of Poker Main Event victories in 1976 and 1977, adding a $10,000 Limit Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo win in between those two World Championship triumphs.

Since, Brunson has won bracelets in Limit Seven Card Stud, No Limit Hold’em, Limit Razz and HORSE, with his most recent victory coming in a $5,000 No Limit Hold’em event in 2005. Brunson’s last WSOP cash game in the 2013 WSOP Main Event, when he finished 409^th for a $28,000 score.

Across an illustrious career, the Poker Hall of Famer has amassed over $6 million in career tournament earnings and while the poker world would love to see him back on poker’s biggest stage, family has always come first for Brunson.
