Day 4 of the 2018 World Series of Poker Main Event featured twists and turns on the PokerGO feature table. The 1,182 who returned in the money shaved down to 310. One of those who went to the payout desk is Phil Ivey. The biggest name left at the start of the day spent his day battling against Brian Altman.

Relive their full battle that led to one’s demise and the other soaring up the Day 4 leaderboard:

Altman’s day started on the rocky side. A flush draw and top pair were too good for Altman to give up against Ronnie Day, and Altman put him to the test. As narrated by Nick Schulman, Day had plenty to sweat heading into the turn and river as the intensity increased right away to start the feature table.

The clash between Ivey and Altman came later on in the day with under 550 players remaining. A dynamic brewed between the two heavyweights at the start of the day and their feud came to a head on the river. Ivey shoved on Altman, and the WPT Champions Club member had a tough decision to make for most of his stack.

Ivey’s demise came in 547th place and the 10-time bracelet winner must wait another day.

Altman sat down with Remko Rinkema to discuss the hand whether or not Ivey was on tilt during the hand in question. The interview made it to the Poker Central Podcast where Altman joined other guests Scott Vener, James Obst, and Chino Rheem.

Rheem and Obst join other elites in Day 5 including Barry Hutter (5,597,000), Shaun Deeb (2,175,000), Antonio Esfandiari (1,260,000), Jake Schindler (476,000). and 2017 final tablist Benjamin Pollak (2,765,000). Joe Cada (559,000) is the last of the former Main Event champions remaining.

Those who cashed but did not advance to Day 5 are Jonathan Duhamel, Patrik Antonius, and Johnny Chan.

Watch the drama of Day 4 unfold through the lens of Drew Amato with Esfandiari featured along with Ivey and Altman.
