The World Series of Poker was bustling in every room on Sunday with a full slate of action that included three final tables, that featured the Seniors Championship available on PokerGO, and Ben Yu defeated an all-star final to win his second career bracelet in the $10,000 Deuce to Seven Triple Draw Championship for $232,738.

Entering the final table Yu face a true table of poker heavyweights – Shaun Deeb, Nick Schulman (who has two bracelets in Deuce to Seven, five-time bracelet winner Mike Matusow and two of the best Canadian players – Mike Watson and Shawn Buchanan.

“It was actually a very tough final table, I think the media overblows it ,” Yu said after his win. “Even a lot of the name players, the tough ones you’ve seen have some success, aren’t always that great. But this final table and this field was actually really tough.”

“You have Nick Schulman, who is one of the end bosses of Bobby’s Room — very, very good, winning at everything he plays, good at everything,” said Yu. “You have Shaun Deeb, who is one of the few players who can get away with that loose because of how great he is post-flop, Mike Watson – I don’t look up to many people in poker, but he is definitely one of them.”

Yu’s signature sense of humor came up when talking about Watson. “Mike has made so many final tables, at some point he’s definitely going to get there. I didn’t tell him, but if I busted I was going to be in his bracelet photo. I was going to do the “McKayla Maroney Unimpressed Face” while standing off to the side.”

Yu didn’t have to stand off to the side, in fact, he was the center of the party.

At three-handed play, when winning a bracelet became a reality, Yu said, “I knew that I was up against tough competition because of who they were and watching them play the last two days. Against these two, I was either break-even or slightly losing. It wasn’t the bracelets that intimidated me, it was knowing how they play and knowing how great they are at poker.”

Yu enjoyed his time in the winner’s circle but when the interviews and photos wrapped up, he late-registered the $10,000 Limit Hold’em Championship – the event he won in 2015. By the end of night Yu was still running well and bagged the chip lead with 41 players remaining.

Yu’s second bracelet pushed his career WSOP earnings to $1.08 million with 49 cashes and six final tables. Anthony Zinno, Brian Tate and Mark Gregorich cashed in the event but missed out on the final table.
