The penultimate day of Event #36 $5,000 No Limit Hold’em 6-Handed just began with 18 players returning to unbag chips and while he was pipped at the end of last night, Chris Hunichen is in a solid spot to make a run towards his first World Series of Poker bracelet. Hunichen comes back right below Kenny Hallaert on the leader board, with big name players Faraz Jaka, James Obst and Mike Leah also in contention.

While the main trend of this year’s World Series has been players returning to the winner’s circle, including David Bach, Ben Yu and Doug Polk, some online poker kingpins have added WSOP gold to their lengthy career resumes. James Obst was the first, winning the $10,000 Razz Championship last week and Chris Moorman followed his lead, by winning the $3,000 No Limit Hold’em 6-Handed title this past weekend.

“Big Huni” is on their level. He is one of the most successful online players of all-time with over $9.5 million in online winnings and was the top ranked player in the world as recently as 2015 but he is still looking for his World Series of Poker breakthrough.

“I’ve been coming here for ten years now. I’ve come up short several times, I have multiple final tables. That’s what I’m going for here.” Hunichen said before Day 3 of Event #36 began, before adding that a WSOP bracelet, “Would mean everything to me.”

While a WSOP victory, and the hardware that comes with it, would mean a lot to Hunichen, the online crusher lets his game and his past accomplishments speak for themselves.

“I think my history has proven myself already but it definitely adds to the legacy,” Hunichen said about what a WSOP bracelet means in terms of career accomplishments. “I think it is one of the main goals for anyone who has been playing for a long time, to at least get one.”

Getting one is certainly easier said than done. James Obst made six WSOP final tables before he finally got one, Chris Moorman fell five times before he crossed the line this weekend and Chris Hunichen has had three such finishes over the last few years. Big Huni will now try to make the fourth time the charm and follow in his online counterparts footsteps to golden WSOP endings. If he can get to another WSOP final table, he’ll likely be one of the headliners when the $5,000 No Limit Hold’em 6-Handed stream begins tomorrow on PokerGO
