Day 2 of the 2017 World Series of Poker $50,000 Poker Players Championship saw seven more players enter the event for total of 100 entries which pushed the prize pool to $4.8 million. Roughly half the field advanced to Day 3 with 44 hopefuls led by Aaron Katz with 1.6 million chips.

Perennial high roller Talal Shakerchi is second in chips with two-time PPC champion Michael Mizrachi third in chips overall. Filling out the top ten spots are Matthew Ashton, Gary Benson and Anthony Zinno.

Just outside the top ten are Phil Galfond, Daniel Negreanu and Jason Mercier. Still in contention but with a closer to average stacks are Josh Arieh, Shaun Deeb, Cary Katz and Robert Mizrachi. Returning at the bottom of the counts are David ODB Baker, Bryn Kenney, Stephen Chidwick and Marco Johnson.

Defending champion Brian Rast, Phill Hellmuth, Johnny Chan, John Monnette and Gus Hansen all were eliminated throughout the day.

The top 15 players cash in the event with the min-cash coming in at $77,320, a seat at the six-handed final table locks up $220,111 and the winner earns $1.3 million and his name on the Chip Reese Trophy.

Play resumes for Day 3 on Tuesday at 2 pm PT (5 pm ET) and they’ll play another six, 100-minute levels before wrapping up action.
